What is a helicopter parent?

Parents who hover at practices, watching their kid continuously, walking up and down the side of the pool during the practice providing feedback during practice to your child or the coaches, talking to the coach's about the practice during practice, etc.

Don't hover. There is time and place for helicopters... the pool deck is not one of them!

 

 

 

 

TEST SETS

The coaches have the 9 & up swimmers complete a test set of 6 x 50s freestyle at various times throughout the season. The swimmers will be timed at practice and later have the opportunity to record their average time into his or her Goal Book. Test Sets help swimmers track their endurance and conditioning throughout the season. This also allows the coaches to give more feedback to each swimmer to help them prepare to race in meets later on.
