Liv Lyons– Head Coach
At age 4, Liv started her swimming career for a small rec team in Lafayette and later swam for Pleasant Hill Dolfins. She swam for Terrapins Swim Team for 9 years, including 4 years at College Park H.S. and qualified for NCS each year. While in high school, Liv managed and taught lessons for the Terrapins Swim Team Lesson Program in Concord. Liv swam 4 years at the collegiate level where she specialized in 200 Breast, 200 Fly, and 400 IM. While in college, she taught private swim lessons to youths and adult tri-athletes. In 2006, she trained with AS Piscina in Rome, Italy. In 2008, Liv completed her first year of law school at Whittier Law School while training with the Irvine Nova Aquatics swim team. Liv is known for emphasizing and effectively teaching proper stroke technique to swimmers of all ages. Liv coached our USA Swimming team, Round Hill Sea Monkeys, this fall and is returning for her 6th season at RHCC!
Rolandas Gimbutis
Rolandas is Cal veteran from Lithuania. Rolandas competed for Lithuania at the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. He placed 19th in the 200-meter free, finished 2nd in his heat of the 100m free, and finished 3rd in his heat of the 50m free. Rolandas is an All-American and Pac-10 Champion. Rolandas was a Lithuanian national champion in the 50 and 100 free from 1998-2002 and was part of the Lithuanian Olympic team in 2000, 2004, and 2008. In the 2004 Athens Olympics, he placed 14th in the 100 free, 21st in the 50 free, and swam the led-off on Lithuania’s 4x100 free relay. Also in 2004, Rolandas placed 5th in 100 free at the World Championships. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he competed in the 50 free. Rolandas has been coaching for several years at the Oakland Undercurrent Swim Team (USS). He also coached for a small team, Plumas Swim Team, in Quincy and for Orka Swim Team in Kaunas, Lithuania. Rolandas is a great stroke technique coach and loves to work with swimmers of all ability levels. This is Coach Rolo's second season at RHCC!
Katie Cartmell
Katie grew-up swimming for the Pleasanton Seahawks where she competed at Nationals in relay events and at Junior Nationals individually. While in high school, Katie coached for Briarhill Cabana Club in Dublin. Katie continued on as a collegiate swimmer for University of the Pacific. Katie taught swim lessons during the summers she was in college, and coached swim groups for the Tiger Aquatics USS team in 2004-2006. She is a kindergarten teacher in Dublin during the year. She is great at working with swimmers of all ages and is extremely knowledgable about proper technique and conditioning. This is Coach Katie's 2nd season at RHCC!
Lauren Braswell
Lauren coached for three years for the Sycamore Stingray Swim Team. She began swimming at age 4 for Indian Valley Swim Team and for Walnut Creek Aquabears. She was a 4 year varsity swimmer for Las Lomas H.S. and team captain her senior year. She swam 1 year at DVC where she was a California Community College State Champion. She is currently attending San Diego State University and recovering from shoulder surgery. Lauren is an energetic individual who is known for her strident cheering at swim meets. This is Lauren's 2nd season at RHCC!
Matt Martinez
Matt Martinez is starting his first year at Round Hill Country Club. Matt swam for De La Salle High School where he was a four year Varsity swimmer and team captain. He is a school record holder in the 200 medley and freestyle relays and ranked fourth in school history in the 100 Breaststroke. Matt trained with Orinda Aquatics for about 6 years before switching to the Terrapins Swim Team for training during his remaining two years of high school. Matt was a junior coach for two years at Orinda Country Club, and then moved to the Larkey Sharks Swim Club as an assistant coach. Matt will be a sophomore next year at Arizona State University. Matt works with the team manager of the Arizona State Men and Women’s Swim Team. He helps the team with recruiting and fundraising. Matt is an enthusiastic individual who will bring extra spirit and zeal to the pool deck.
